Techniques
Prominent ears can be set closer to the head in more than one way. The right approach depends on whether the antihelical fold is missing, the cartilage is stiff, or the earlobe also needs work. Dr. Daniela examines your ears and chooses what fits, not what is quickest.
Permanent sutures recreate the missing antihelical fold and gently bend the cartilage into shape. Cartilage-sparing, so the ear keeps its natural softness. Most common option for ears that lack a defined fold.
Sutures placed at the base of the ear reduce a deep concha and set the ear closer to the head. Often combined with Mustardé sutures when ears both stick out and lack a fold. Addresses the gap between ear and skull.
When cartilage is too stiff for sutures alone, the surface is carefully scored so it bends and holds the new fold. Useful in adults with firmer cartilage. Reshaping is done through the incision behind the ear.
Repair of torn or stretched earlobes from piercings, plus reshaping of a prominent or large lobe. Can be done on its own or alongside an antihelical correction so the whole ear looks balanced.

Day 1About 1–2 hours. Local anesthesia with sedation for most adults; general anesthesia for younger children. Sutures sit behind the ear. A soft headband supports the new shape for the first days.
Days 2–5Recovery is low-impact. Most patients are cleared to fly home within about a week. Wear the headband at night for a few weeks. Virtual follow-ups at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.
